Why small appetites need a different kind of recipe

Most recipes assume you can finish a full plate. When your appetite shrinks, the first few bites matter most. If those bites are pasta or salad greens, you are full before you get much protein.

How do you get enough protein when your appetite is small?

Eat the most protein-dense foods first and keep portions small. Cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, canned tuna, eggs, and tofu can pack 20 to 30 grams of protein into about a cup. Ask your prescriber or a registered dietitian how much protein you personally need.

What is protein per bite?

It is a simple way to compare foods by how much protein you get for the space they take up. When you can only eat a few bites, high protein per bite helps you reach your goal with less food.
